Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, School of Leadership and Advanced Nursing Practice. Qualified applicants with teaching/practice experience as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Family and/or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) are welcome to apply.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and teach graduate courses and potentially upper-level undergraduate courses.
2. Contribute broadly to our thriving graduate and undergraduate nursing programs.
3. Develop and maintain syllabi, lesson plans, and more for each course taught.
4. Maintain the standards of The University of Southern Mississippi.
5. Possess a passion to education nurse practitioners.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsThe successful candidate(s) will possess a master’s degree in nursing (MSN).
Board certification as a Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and/or a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
Applicants must have 3 years’ clinical experience in each of the specialty areas (PMHNP and FNP).
Applicants must have 1 year experience teaching nurse practitioner students.
Candidates must hold an unencumbered license to practice nursing in the State of Mississippi, meet all requirements of the affiliated clinical agencies, and satisfy a criminal background check.
Salary and appointment to Assistant Professor will be commensurate with qualifications and experience appropriate for that rank.
Preference for applicants with a PhD in Nursing with research experience will be given.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise graduate assistants or student workers. Will frequently supervise College of Nursing and Health Professions students.
