The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering offers undergraduate degrees in civil engineering, construction engineering and environmental engineering.
Graduate programs are offered with specialties in computing and systems, construction engineering, water resources, coastal and environmental engineering, structural engineering and mechanics; transportation systems and materials; and geotechnical / geoenvironmental engineering, and mechanics and materials.

Essential Job Duties

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) expects to fill a position in the area of Structural Engineering. Successful candidates will have strong fundamentals in structural engineering, demonstrating the ability for continued research innovation in the field. We are particularly interested in research with application to steel structures but candidates in all areas relevant to structural engineering will be considered. While we seek individuals with strong domain expertise, we also value a demonstrated interest in working with colleagues from other areas of civil engineering (and/or across other disciplines) to address emerging research questions aimed at the betterment of civil infrastructure.

Successful candidates should be able to participate in multidisciplinary initiatives to support the missions of the department and the college. While we expect to hire at the assistant professor level, outstanding applicants at all ranks are encouraged to apply.

We are seeking colleagues to join a vibrant department with 49 faculty members, over 700 undergraduates and 340 graduate students. The CCEE department has many excellent laboratories and is planning to move to a new building on NCSU’s Centennial Campus by 2020.

Other Work/Responsibilities

Candidates should possess excellent teaching skills and an ability to attract external funding for and conduct research programs supportive of the Department’s thrust areas.

Minimum Education/Experience

An earned doctorate degree in civil engineering or a closely related field is required prior to start date.

Departmental Required Skills

We seek candidates who are able to develop and maintain a nationally recognized and externally funded research program within their area of expertise, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and collaborate across disciplines.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

We are particularly interested in research with application to steel structures but candidates in all areas relevant to structural engineering will be considered.

Required License or Certification

Post-doctoral experience, professional experience, and a professional engineering license are desirable, but not required.
