Under the general supervision of the Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer this position is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the Office of Diversity Education (ODE); works closely with departments on educational programming for students, staff and faculty; advises and trains campus and community leaders on diversity education; develops, implements, and initiates diversity training across campus and develops curriculum and training on issues pertinent to diversity such as intercultural communication, intergroup dialogue, cultural competencies, intersections of race, class, gender and other identities; privilege and social justice; and cultural awareness discourses. Supervises, coordinates and assesses the academic, programmatic and other ODE activities; assists with raising cultural awareness and inclusion skills on campus and in the surrounding community.Master's degree, preferably in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies, Education, Sociology or Psychology, Gender Studies, or a related field.
Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including instruction and/or responsibility for activities similar to those coordinated through the Office of Diversity Education, including work with intergroup dialogue programs.
Demonstrated ability to work with faculty on curriculum development and/or creating a more inclusive educational climate.
Demonstrated ability to work with students, staff and faculty from diverse communities, specifically with historically marginalized communities.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills and inclusive practice.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
