30-Sep-2019 Close All Job SummaryThe Leeds School of Business encourages applications for two Program Managers within the Office of Diversity Affairs! These positions report to the Director of the Office of Diversity Affairs. One of our Program Managers will oversee and manage the EXCEL Scholars program as well as coordinate and manage the Summer Bridge Program for EXCEL Scholars. Our other Program Manager will manage the Diverse Scholars Program Tutoring Program as well as Co-lead Diversity and Business Ethics Case Competition. Responsibilities include; manage programs and a student caseload within the Diverse Scholars Program (DSP); monitoring and developing appropriate interventions for undergraduate retention; monitoring, evaluating and developing program curriculum to assist in successful student retention. This person must be familiar with university policies, procedures, and codes of ethics related to budgetary use, program development, corporate and donor outreach, and other related processes.Who We AreThe Office of Diversity Affairs, established in 2001, supports an inclusive learning environment for the diverse student body at the Leeds School. The office maintains a focus on underrepresented undergraduate experiences and is dedicated to fostering and maintaining partnerships with alumni and businesses through outreach efforts and programs.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeCaseload Management
  • Conduct and manage supplemental advising for Diverse Scholars Program (DSP) participants.
  • Collaborate with undergraduate affairs programs and corporate partners on student development outcomes; monitor, evaluate, and improve the DSP support system as it relates to student academic and career paths.
  • Provide leadership in the creation and management of internal (on-campus) and external (off-campus) academic, education, information, and public relations related activities as necessary.
Program Management
  • Manage DSP Tutoring Program; hire, train, and monitor tutors; manage evaluation collection and timesheet collection.
  • Lead and update new DSP student application, selection process, and onboarding communication.
  • Handle and coordinate DSP Research Initiative; outreach to Leeds faculty; recruit, organize training and run research assistants’ payment.
  • Manage DSP Faculty Mentor Program; prioritize training, networking events, matching and community events.
  • Plan and execute DSP Lunch and Learn series with corporate partners and recruiters; work with Leeds Career Development to secure new speakers.
  • Responsible for the planning of large community events: Town Halls and DSP Community Building Activities.
  • Co-lead Diversity and Business Ethics Case Competition; communication with corporate partners; organization of case preparation events for DSP members and preliminary case challenge event; case development.
  • Lead the continuous evaluation of programs and services provided by the Office of Diversity Affairs.
  • Develop applications and tracking mechanisms utilizing programs to include Salesforce, Qualtrics, Excel Spreadsheets.
OR
  • Conduct and manage interview and selection process for EXCEL Scholars; communicate with accepted EXCEL Scholars, Leeds RAP and Occupancy Management for priority placement and scholarship opportunities.
  • Coordinate and manage Summer Bridge Program for EXCEL Scholars; hire train student staff; communication with instructional staff for delivery of curriculum; secure corporate site visits and corporate partner engagement; manage program evaluation and participant surveys; coordinate with Conference Services and manage logistics for academic, professional development and community-building events.
  • Organize and monitor Values-Based Leadership curriculum for DSP students.
  • Organize and secure instructors for DSP Accounting and Finance Boot Camps for second-year students; manage corporate partner’s lunch and learn.
  • Organize and manage the annual Academic Awards Banquet with MBSA.
  • Develop network of DSP Alumni; assist with recruitment for YAMS and PMP; plan and host alumni programs and events; assist ODA in outreach and selection of alumni for ODA programmatic needs.

Administrative Leadership
  • Build and lead student staff and event assistants for academic year and summer needs.
  • Monitor the quality of student staff projects.
  • Contribute to setting policies, coordinating major initiatives (retention, alumni & corporate relations), managing personnel and staff development and supervision of student employees.
  • Provide knowledge of working with undergraduate students.
  • Work well in teams and independently.
  • Show compassion regarding student issues and understand how to lead by example.
  • Form relationships with students which directly impacts student satisfaction for not only the Office of Diversity Affairs but for the Leeds School of Business.

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least one year of professional experience in the field of student development or student services.
    • This would include experience with student program planning and implementation, or community outreach.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in project and/or event management.
What You Will Need
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Formal training and/or professional experience in student development in higher education.
  • At least one year of professional experience working with traditionally underrepresented or under-served students.
  • Cross-culturally competent service development.
  • Program implementation strategies specific to business students.
  • Experience working with various software platforms including Qualtrics, Salesforce, Drupal.
  • Familiar with Social Media and Microsoft Office Suite.
