Description:

The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine requests applications and nominations for a full-time, 12 month service period, Cardiac Surgeon faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank without tenure due to funding. The salary and rank is commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in Spring 2019.

This position will participate in the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery procedures, including but not limited to heart failure and transplant, aortic surgery, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery procedures. The cardiac surgeon will also be responsible for teaching and training of residents and medical students, as well as participation in quality improvement initiatives. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

The primary site of practice for this position is the University of Washington Medical Center. Patient care may also be provided at or coordinated with Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System.


Qualifications:

Prospective candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent), and be American Board of Thoracic Surgery (or foreign equivalent) qualified as of March 1, 2019.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
