General Summary The Department of English at Illinois State University, located in Normal, Illinois, seeks an Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition for a nine-month, tenure-track position, specializing in histories of rhetoric with an emphasis on rhetorics from and of underrepresented or non-Western cultures. The selected candidate will join an internationally recognized English Studies faculty; participate in delivering well-established undergraduate and graduate concentrations in rhetoric and composition; and help to further our commitments to diverse and global perspectives on rhetoric. This appointment will carry a 2/3 teaching load. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Candidates are required to have:
- An earned doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field by appointment start date
- Evidence of promising scholarship in Rhetoric and Composition
- A record of successful college teaching in Rhetoric and Composition
- Oral proficiency in the English language, as mandated by state law

We additionally welcome candidates with expertise in any of the following: Latinx rhetorics; African American rhetorics; environmental justice rhetorics; other areas of cultural rhetorics.
