The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a part-time Lab Specialist. This individual will act as a laboratory specialist on data entry, management and collection tasks, serve as a resource on routine office tasks, work directly with Project Coordinator to choose what data is relevant for entry and perform data entry and management and work directly with Project Coordinator and other supervisory staff to screen, recruit, and enroll program participants.
A Bachelors degree is required with a preference for degrees in nutrition, public health, health science or a related field. Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to understand data and laboratory processes and procedures and perform minor data analysis, knowledge of general laboratory procedures, including anthropometric measures, interview-administered survey procedures, and audio file transcription, proficiency with computer software, including Word, Power Point and Excel, excellent communication skills, including with diverse audiences for recruitment efforts and knowledge of evidence-based guidelines for nutrition and physical activity, to inform curriculum develop and revisions. Preferred experience includes SPSS software for data management and human subjects research in lifestyle behavioral trails.
This position is restricted with an expected end date in August 2020 and extension is contingent upon grant funding. Typical hours will be 20 hours per week.
