The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) is seeking a highly organized, detail oriented, professional Administrative Assistant to support business operations. This position is responsible for purchasing, travel and general reimbursements, travel planning, Travel and Expense Card purchases, analyzing and reconciling accounts, managing room and parking reservations, class copying and scanning. Additional responsibilities include providing general administrative support to faculty; poster printing, editing documents, greeting visitors; and assisting with new student orientation. The successful candidate will provide genuine and consistent daily contributions and be willing to learn new skills necessitated by changing needs of the DMSE.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent with four years relevant experience. Bachelor's degree may substitute for years of experience.

EXPERIENCE: Successful in providing exceptional administrative support; customer service; strong written and verbal communication skills; working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; proficient in ORACLE applications, ChromeRiver, UBI, and Travel and Expense Card regulations; commitment to efficiency; manage projects under tight deadlines; ability to work well in a team; and proven ability to adapt to change.

SOFTWARE: Multiple applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, ORACLE, ChromeRiver, UBI, and RECON@UVA.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
