Administer the campus-wide judicial system and Student Conduct Code. Develop and coordinate educational programs for students and staff. Provide assistance to the Director of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs and members of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs Management Team in matters related to the judicial system and the Student Conduct Code.

Position/Job Responsibilities

1.Provide leadership for the Judicial Affairs Office and programs for all of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs. Collaborate with the Director of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs in the areas of policy development, administration, and program design for the campus judicial system and the Student Conduct Code. Research campus judicial and behavioral trends to benchmark against best practices in the field.

2.Assist with the development, evaluation, revision, and dissemination of the Student Conduct Code.

3.Develop, demonstrate, and promote multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as a college priority, communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that is civil and inclusive when interacting with all staff, faculty, students and visitors and promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment.

4.Provide oversight, guidance and training for an Administrative Assistant, Assistant Directors for Staff and Programs, and Residence/Community Directors regarding judicial case management and administration.

5.Manage the campus judicial system (Maxient) and oversee the maintenance of all student judicial records in the system. Collaborate with and train campus partners in the use of the Maxient system. Coordinate written and oral communication of policies and procedures related to the judicial process

6.Review and process all violations of the Student Conduct Code and coordinate the adjudication of all judicial cases in disciplinary hearings. Serve as higher-level hearing officer to counsel students.

7.Coordinate and chair Conduct Review Board hearings.

8.Assist with the resolution of major departmental issues presented by students, parents, staff, and other college offices; initiate written communication of judicial decisions to students and other appropriate parties; maintain a sensitivity to potential legal problems related to the campus judicial system and consult with the Director of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs, Dean of Students, Vice President for Students Affairs and/or College Counsel when appropriate.

9.Coordinate outreach work with faculty regarding academic integrity and the utilization of the judicial system to address instances of academic dishonesty.

10.Partner with the Title IX Coordinator regarding cases of alleged sexual misconduct that proceed through the judicial system. Chair Conduct Review Boards for cases of alleged sexual misconduct. Serve as a member of the Title IX SHARE Advisory Committee and Policy, Procedure, and Practice Committee.

11.Collaborate with the Center for Health Promotion regarding matters of substance use and the BASICS Program. Review incident reports and determine students who are eligible for the Medical Amnesty Program. Serve as a member of the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Team.

12.Coordinate the flow of incident reports from the Office of Public Safety to the judicial administration system and have regular communication with the Associate Director/Deputy Chief and Administrative Lieutenant regarding cases.

13.Collaborate with the staff in Case Management to determine students who will be referred through the judicial process. Serve as a member of ICARE (Behavior Intervention Team) to assess and discuss the most helpful plan for students of concern.

14.Develop and facilitate informational sessions for parents and students concerning the judicial system and the Student Conduct Code during Orientation and other appropriate sessions.

15.Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the Judicial Affairs budget.

16.Participate in recruitment, selection, and evaluation of professional and student staff focusing on their ability to participate in Judicial Affairs. Monitor work performance for accuracy and completeness to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures in matters of Judicial Affairs.

17.Serve in the Residential Life & Judicial Affairs Management Team on-campus duty rotation for 4,500 students in campus residence halls and apartments.

18.Other duties as assigned.

Position/Job Qualifications

Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Leadership or Counseling and a minimum of five years judicial conduct experience required. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate educational student Judicial programs; proven leadership abilities and conduct experience; proven success working with a diverse student population in an advising or mentoring role; ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse and welcoming environment; ability to treat all people equitably and with a sensitivity and awareness to cultural difference; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive; excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to represent the College effectively within and outside of the college community are required.
