About the PositionThe Program Support Coordinator coordinates departmental operations, administers academic programs, performs student services, engages in outreach activities, and contributes to optimizing the operations of the department. To successfully carry out their role, the incumbent must proactively and productively interact with colleagues within the college (e.g., International Student and Scholar Services, Business Development and External Relations, self-support professional education unit, etc.) and across the university (GAPE, Registrar's office, etc.). The incumbent must be able to use sound judgment when interpreting and applying SJSU and CSU policies and procedures as they pertain to new and complex situations that arise in the department.
Required Qualifications-A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training.
-Administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
Preferred Qualifications-Master's degree.
-Experience in an academic or public service environment
-At least 2 years of related office work experience
-Working experience and proficiency with software applications and database management programs
-Experience communicating/interacting with a variety of customers/vendors using excellent written and oral communication skills (as evidence on their application).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities-Knowledge of the university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
-Proficiency of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
-Knowledge and familiarity using office software packages, technology, and systems.
-Knowledge of academic program administration and coordination, especially graduate admissions and processes
-Excellent customer service skills
-Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Excellent computer skills: acquire, consolidate, correlate, analyze and summarize data
-Ability to easily navigate online social networking tools: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, etc.
