The Department of Sociology and Human Services at The University of North Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology, specializing in Gender. Additional areas of expertise are open, but we are especially interested in candidates with background in one or more of the following areas: criminology, inequality and social justice, qualitative methods. Primary responsibilities will be on the Dahlonega Campus.

Located in the fastest-growing region of the state, the University of North Georgia is a multi-campus university with an enrollment of nearly 20,000 students, making it one of the largest institutions in the University System of Georgia. Job Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong commitment to diversity and social justice

  • Provide evidence of scholarship through publications and presentations in peer reviewed environments and a well-defined research agenda
  • Teach a 4/4/ course load according to the needs of the department
  • Serve on departmental, school and university committees.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • PhD in Sociology at the time of appointment. Advanced ABD candidates will be considered (Ph.D. must be in hand by the hire date).
