Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist II performs a broad scope of professional IT activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of IT principles, practices and procedures. Usually requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity.

Additional Department Summary: The Systems Administrator provides first-level support to faculty, staff, and students of the College of Engineering for physical and virtual servers, networking, desktops, and peripherals. This position involves supervision of students and coordination with other campus IT departments to support users of various degrees of expertise working with multiple operating systems, hardware, and applications.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree; OR Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of IT experience; OR Associate’s degree and three (3) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of IT experience. Knowledge of intermediate programming, networking, system, multimedia or instructional technology skills. May require intermediate level training or certification.

Skills and Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems is required.

Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding. Effective time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of imaging software such as Microsoft SCCM, MDT, Ghost, PDQ or other equivalent applications is preferred.

Experience in the following areas is desired: VMware or Citrix virtualization, Microsoft Active Directory, MS IIS, DNS/IPAM, and TCP/IP subnetting.
