Advancement and Campaign Communications is a division of Advancement Operations and Campaign whose primary focus is to lead and coordinate marketing and communications efforts across Advancement in support of the university's fundraising and engagement programs and initiatives. The division partners closely with marketing and communications specialists embedded within the six Advancement departments and with University Communications and Public Affairs (UCPA) to ensure that all communications efforts represent the campus, and the Campaign, appropriately.
The Communications Coordinator provides critical operational, project coordination, and marketing/communications planning and execution support for the Advancement and Campaign Communications team. Reporting to the Campaign Communications Director, the Coordinator is the main point of contact, project manager, and customer service lead for a wide range of print and digital marketing/communications projects under the management of the Advancement and Campaign Communications office, which enhance fundraising and engagement efforts across Advancement and the university.
The Coordinator serves as the lead liaison between clients and vendor partners, working closely with creative leads and team members to gather print/production specifications, manage print/proof scheduling and approvals, ensure high-quality results, and timely delivery to clients. Is detail-oriented and adept at managing multiple requests and competing deadlines, has knowledge of fundraising, marketing, and communications tools and concepts and should be paired with ability and interest in acquiring new relevant skills.
In addition to independently managing the day-to-day operational functions of Advancement and Campaign Communications and the full lifecycle of marketing/communications project management, the Coordinator is also responsible for applying their existing and acquired knowledge of key marketing concepts, with a particular emphasis on nonprofit marketing and fundraising, to perform duties such as planning, developing and implementing marketing/communications plans, drafting promotional/marketing materials, conducting research on market trends, technology, and systems, and analyzing data, all in support of the Campaign for UC San Diego.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, strategies and best practices.
Superior proofreading, editing, content style, flow and tone of informational materials to ensure accurate grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and syntax within documents.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to write promotional and informational copy in a clear and concise manner.
Working knowledge of customer service standards / procedures.
Organizational skills and skills in file creation, maintenance and management.
Working knowledge of general office, publishing and presentation software including Microsoft Office, Google Apps, etc.
Ability to collaborate well with other team members in a dynamic atmosphere.
Solid knowledge of institutional products and services.
Written and interpersonal communication skills.
