Under the direction of the Director, Office of Student Accounts, and Cashier (OSAC), the Account Analyst is the front desk person responsible for implementation and completion of daily responsibilities in the OSAC. S/he works with the Director and the Assistant Manager to assure processing of charges and payments related to student tuition and fees and update student financial records.The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of financial integrity of the Student Accounts System (BANNER) through accounting, including analysis and reconciliation of its activities and processing fee payments and departmental deposits (TOUCHNET). The Account Analyst has additional responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
  • Handles Student Accounts functions, including management of individual student caseload, posting charges, adjustments, late fees, and posting payments on student accounts.
  • Processes routine transactions and answers routine transactions, answering general questions and assisting in the processing of student refunds and student petty cash reimbursements.
  • Provides financial counseling for parents and students regarding payment options and payment plans with authority to negotiate special arrangements in special situations and directs complicated or escalating situations to the supervisor.
  • Develops communication tools to educate prospective and current students and families about their account charges and financial aid.
  • Reviews student accounts to assure accuracy of charges and payments and resolve discrepancies, if necessary.
  • Meets with students to address late fees and other student accounts issues.
  • Processes deposits, petty cash, fees, and waivers as assigned by departments on campus, coordinating third party billing needs as necessary.
  • Shares team responsibility for answering general questions and processing routine transactions as related to academic records, student accounts, and financial aid in front desk, by phone, and by email.
  • Resolves general issues and problems or refers to appropriate personnel to ensure highest level of customer service.
  • Works closely with the financial aid staff to streamline joint procedures and disbursement of aid.
  • Understands and counsels students regarding federal, state, and institutional financial aid concepts and policies.
  • Maintains confidentiality and appropriately handles sensitive communications.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Training:
  • High School Graduate; Associate Degree, or Bachelor Degree is a plus
  • 2-4 years combined experience in Student Accounts, Accounts Receivable, Collections, or financial/accounting field
  • Experience with the Ellucian Banner student record system
  • Experience with the Touchnet Bill + Payment software suite
  • Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard Compliance
  • University Financial System - Workday- GMS
  • University GoCard System

Knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
  • Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard
  • Knowledge of Title IV rules and FERPA rules a plus

  • Excellent public relations, verbal and written communication, and ability to communicate sensitive and/or complex information in a confidential and straightforward manner
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain effective customer service toward all persons contacted during the course of job performance
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships within a diverse and multicultural environment
  • Ability to multitask and manage time and priorities to meet deadlines
  • Basic accounting skills with proven diagnostic, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Must have a positive, supportive attitude, and willingness to continually learn
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and error-free work
