Electrical Engineering (EE) is one of the largest departments in the School of Engineering, with more than 60 faculty and 1000 undergraduate, masters and doctoral students (website: https://ee.stanford.edu). EE is seeking a data analyst to work with faculty and students on neuroelectrical and neurocomputational engineering projects. The data analyst will verify and organize large data archives and aid in the development of software tools, making them readily accessible internally and externally to Stanford.


Your responsibilities would include:


  • Curate and standardize a large database of neurophysiological recordings, including producing data summaries and visualizations.

  • Document data organization and internal formatting standards for long-term use.

  • Develop interfaces for easily accessing and querying datasets.

  • Aid in developing and documenting a software package for statistical modeling, especially making tutorials to using the curated database of neural data.

  • Address code bugs and documentation issues raised by end-users of this software.

  • Contribute to training sessions for new users of this software and database.




To be successful in this position, the candidate will


  • Possess a BS degree in information science and optimization; an MS degree is preferred.

  • Be comfortable manipulating data sets, especially neural data sets, with the latest data toolsets.

  • Be able to analyze and work with custom coding tools.

  • Be proficient in Python, C++, and MATLAB.

  • Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Be able to work in a team setting.
