Internal Medicine is a department within the Division of Heath Sciences and Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Department of Internal Medicine is comprised of ten divisions with over 85 full time faculty and 150 support staff members. Each of the divisions has its own specialty clinic.

Internal Medicine is home to seven fellowships and two residency programs. In recent years collaboration and funding have come from many national recognized organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, Health Resources and Service Administration, American Heart Association, NC Department of Human Health and Human Service. More locally, we have partnered with Vidant Medical Center Foundation, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, North Carolina Biotechnology Center, and the Pitt County Health Department. Additionally, Internal Medicine participates in many pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trails

We collaborate with Department of Pediatrics, the Department of Surgery, and the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences within the Brody School of Medicine. The Department of Internal Medicine has a close affiliation with Vidant Medical Center and serves a diverse population in eastern North Carolina. Vidant Medical Center, a 974 bed tertiary care teaching facility, serves as the primary teaching and clinical care venue for an integrated nine hospital hub and spoke system.

Job Duties

The Division of Neurology at East Carolina University seeks neurologist to perform the following duties:

- evaluate and manage general neurology patients in our ambulatory office;

- evaluate and manage patients within the subspecialty area of vascular neurology to include hospital work with our stroke center;

- actively participate in the inpatient neurology service of the practice at Vidant Medical Center; this involves rounding on patients on the inpatient service, attending to neurology consultations from the medical staff and regional hospitals; being on call for night and weekend duty — (currently one in nine);

- actively participate in departmental and hospital meetings;

- cooperate with the other neurologists in the care of patients in the region;

- participate in the teaching programs at the Brody School of Medicine.

This is a flexible position which allows for participate in other academic, research and clinical pursuits. The Division is actively involved in the training of medical students and residents.

The successful candidate will join our academic group in a tenure track or fixed-term appointment at the rank/title of Assistant Professor or higher, commensurate with qualifications.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience

A current North Carolina medical license is required for employment.

MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution along with being BE/BC by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology are required.
