Job Summary


The Instructional Content Developer reports to the Director of Change Management and is accountable for: work with technical staff and business owners to design and develop learning solutions for technology platforms being implemented by Business Technology Services (BTS) for OOD & SAA. Content to include: storyboards and scripts for online and classroom training, participant and instructor materials (“job aids”), and content in WalkMe (a Digital Adoption Platform). The Instructional Content Developer role is critical to the success of the Change Management team's adoption success goals.


This is a 2-year fixed-term position located at our new Redwood City campus.


Your responsibilities include:


  • Proactively consult with technical resources (Developers and Business Analysts) and Subject Matter Experts from the business to create storyboards and write scripts for training programs to teach OOD and SAA staff how to optimally use new technology platforms being implemented.

  • The scripts will primarily be produced (by Instructional Designers) as online content, although some classroom training scripts may also be required.

  • The training will be consumed by OOD/SAA staff as well as external constituents (such as alumni volunteers).

  • The scripts should include not only instructional content, but also practice exercises and assessments. They will cover both technical how to as well as best practices, policies and guidelines.

  • Create job aids and other supporting training materials to supplement scripts as needed.

  • Develop and manage content in our Digital Adoption Platform (DAP) WalkMe. Report on WalkMe analytics to the rest of the team.

  • Produce high-quality materials, manage deliverable due-dates, and follow the Change Management Team's processes for collaboration, reporting, and communication.




Additionally:


  • When appropriate, share best practices through cross campus collaboration and instructional design community.

  • May manage contractors, schedules and budgets.

To be successful in the role you will bring:


  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Instructional content development expertise:

  • Knowledge of Andragogy and best practices associated with Adult Learning.

  • Understanding of tech training best practices and experience developing training content for technology platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical documentation into effective and user-friendly training scripts.

  • Ability to develop training content that provides not only technical instruction, but also communicates policy, business process, and best practices.

  • Experience creating and managing content in Learning Management Systems (preferably Lessonly).

  • Experience creating and managing content in Digital Adoption Platforms (preferably WalkMe).

  • Business Acumen:

  • Demonstrated ability to consult and work collaboratively with business partners, subject matter experts, technical resources, vendor partners, business partners and diverse groups and individuals at all levels of an organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the creation of an environment that is service-oriented, supportive, engaging and effective.

  • Demonstrated excellence in client service skills and ability to learn business concepts quickly.

  • Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

  • Outstanding writing, editing, critical reasoning, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts concisely and clearly and to convert technical or complex information and concepts into easily understandable text and illustrations.

  • Preferred - Competent user of:
    * Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides and Shared Drives)
    * SmartSheet
    * Slack & Zoom

Introduction Business Technology Services (BTS)

BTS serves the technology needs of OOD & SAA. In addition to ongoing support, BTS, in partnership with Stanford's UIT is accountable for the implementation of the ADAPT Program (Alumni and Development Applications Platform Transition). ADAPT is a multi-year program that will migrate Stanford's 20+ year old PostGrads database and all its associated systems and processes (e.g., gift-processing, web presence, constituent management, event management, etc.) to a Salesforce platform or inter-related systems. The services BTS provides enables OOD, Stanford Alumni Association (SAA), and their campus partners to better serve, steward, and digitally engage the university's donors and alumni.
