Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) - Physician Assistant Program

Job description

The Physician Assistant Program at Case Western Reserve University invites applications to fill a junior level faculty position. This is a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, and 0.8 FTE, 12-month faculty position reporting directly to the Physician Assistant Program Director.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:  

Didactic Curriculum: teaching and course coordination with emphasis on professional issues series and health systems science courses; facilitation of community-based health-promotion clinical experiences; evaluation and outcome analysis of hard and soft patient outcomes associated with health promotion experiences; implementing Experiential Learning and Community Service Learning opportunities for first and second year students.

Establish and cultivate relationships with community partners, creating experiential learning and community service opportunities across the life span, focusing on patient centered care with a special focus on understanding the impact of social determinants on health. Prepare students to provide medical care to patients from diverse populations.

Clinical Curriculum (pre-clinical clerkships and clinical rotations): Overseeing the deployment of longitudinal curricular themes focusing on professionalism, health systems science, patient centered communication and shared decision making in pre-clinical clerkships (year 1) and clinical rotations (year 2).

Additional responsibilities include: student advisement and mentoring; the monitoring of student performance; participation in evaluation and outcome analysis of PA curriculum; participation in interprofessional education opportunities; involvement and leadership in PA program community outreach programs as well as scholarship activities.

The position also includes active involvement in the PA program admissions process, maintaining PA program accreditation and university service including active participation on program, school and university committees.  In addition, the successful candidate is expected to maintain clinical practice hours.  

Qualifications for this position include graduation from an accredited physician assistant program, minimum of an earned Master’s Degree, proven clinical precepting and/or teaching experience, and minimum of three years current clinical experience, current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio.  Advanced computer skills required with proficiency in using databases and clinical evaluation software. Experience in PA education is desirable.
