STAFF PSYCHIATRIST - COLLEGE HEALTH – FULL TIMEPOSITION

WITHDIRECT APPOINTMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE -DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO HOSPITAL (UCH)

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Very fewPsychiatry positions provide such a professionally satisfying practice settingwith integrated support systems, including on-campus counseling centers;extremely positive clinical atmosphere with on-site administrative leadership;low staff turn-over rate; diverse patient base with varying levels ofdiagnostic complexity. SETTING: College Health Center serving all threeinstitutions of higher education on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver,Colorado. This includes Metropolitan State University of Denver, University ofColorado-Denver and Community College of Denver. Clientele age range is from 18to 60 (+) and include students, faculty and staff. The Psychiatry practice isintegrated with the general medicine practice, providing collaborativeresources for patient care.

 

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides psychiatricservices, psychiatric medical care and medication management to students,faculty and staff on the Auraria Campus. General work schedule is M-F 8-5. In addition, there will beconsultations and training sessions with mental health professionals at thethree campus Counseling Centers. Position serves on the CARE Team (behavioralintervention team) for one of the institutions. Fully automated electronicmedical record system is utilized. Faculty appointment in the Department ofPsychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is at a levelcommensurate with experience. Two weeks per year of covering psychiatryresidents at the University of Colorado Hospital is required.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: Licensed Psychiatrist (M.D. or D.O.) ingood standing in the State of Colorado or eligible for licensure in Colorado,with no practice restrictions. New graduates and experienced clinicians areencouraged to apply. Candidate must possess the following essentialcharacteristics: flexible, affable, engaging and collaborative personality;outstanding interpersonal skills; positive outlook and energy; sense of humor;and the ability to interface with a variety of constituent groups as a key publicrelations officer for the department. Candidate should have a wide range ofclinical/diagnostic skills based on comprehensive work experience/training andbe proficient in the use of electronic medical records. Must have thoroughknowledge of theoretical and pharmacologic issues and prescriptive practicesrelated to the clinical treatment of common psychiatric and/or substance abusedisorders. Needs to work well in a collaborative work environment associatedwith being part of a group practice with common practice guidelines andexpectations. Applicants must have the ability to practice efficientlyincluding staying on time with clients and ensuring that all clinicaldocumentation is maintained daily.
