Job Description Summary

The research assistant will help with literature review, gain experience cleaning survey data, learn how to make tables and present results, and, pending acceptance, have the opportunity to present the research to an international audience at a conference. The project is an assessment of how the Affordable Care Act may influence patterns of cohabitation, marriage, and childbearing for young adults. Expected time commitment is 5 hours/week for 20 weeks over the academic year.

Specific Duties

Review literature
Clean survey data and provide preliminary analysis using Stata software
Make tables of results
Assist with drafting presentation(s) of results
Present research at a conference
Other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled ULV student
At least one year of prior work experience (volunteer work OK)
Knowledge of searching for academic literature through library databases, Google Scholar, etc.
Strong writing skills
Dependable worker
Self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with statistical analysis

Benefits Summary

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan – can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
