The College has more than 4,800 students, more than 100 full-time faculty members and more than 32,000 alumni. The External Relations team plans and manages the internal and external communications for the college. The goal of external relations is to build the brand of the College, programs and signature areas, to market programs to prospective students, and to engage alumni and friends in ways that they stay active and committed, including fundraising.Primary Purpose of Position
The Executive Director of External Relations will lead the implementation of outcomes-focused College communications and marketing strategy, collaborating with College partners to determine program objectives, devise key messages, identify optimal message platforms and channels, and set communications frame work and guidance. The Director develops, oversees and monitors the External Relations plan and annual work plan. The Director empowers and leads the External Relations team, including alumni relations, marketing and communications professionals. The Director is responsible for the college’s communications, publications, online presence, media relations, major events, partnerships and sponsorships. The Director will maintain a collaborative relationship with University Advancement and will build relationships across the College, campus and region for the College’s benefit.Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for media relations, production of College publications, advancement/development communications, and management of the College’s online presence. The Director will maintain a collaborative relationship with University Advancement and work closely with Executive Education.Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor Degree and 5 or more years of experience in a related field are required. Master’s degree preferred.Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
10+ years of related experience; prior experience in higher education preferred.Necessary Certifications/LicensesPreferred Certifications/Licenses
