Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry ( features an extremely supportive and collegial environment with 15 full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty, 6 full-time teaching faculty, and a diverse student body. We offer a B.S. in Biochemistry, a B.A., B.S., and M.S. in Chemistry, including Biochemistry options, and a Ph.D. in Medicinal Biochemistry. Our Department is housed in a 170,000 square foot $35 million state-of-the-art science building. Excellent core instrumentation and facilities for NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry with full time support staff are available on site.

Position Summary

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or related field at the rank of assistant or associate professor. A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field is a requirement for the position. Tenure will be offered at the associate professor rank depending on selected candidate’s qualification. Applicants should demonstrate a solid track record of publication, and should show promise for establishing an independent and externally funded research program. Applicants will be expected to mentor master’s and doctoral research students, and to contribute to the department’s long-standing strength in undergraduate research. Additionally, the successful hire will demonstrate teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. A competitive startup package will be provided. The expected start date for this position is Fall of 2020.
