Assistant/Associate Professor of Education(two positions available) St. Norbert College, a nationally ranked, residential liberal arts institution with an enrollment of 2,200 students, invites applications for two full-time tenure-track positions in our Teacher Education Discipline. Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in Education or a closely related field prior to starting in August 2020. Responsibilities for both positions include teaching undergraduate courses, scholarly activity, academic advising, and collegial service. In addition, successful candidates will need three or more years of K-12 teaching experience and become familiar with the licensing requirements for the State of Wisconsin. The Teacher Education Discipline at St. Norbert College offers many field-based licensure programs that are anchored in service-learning and community-engaged teaching opportunities with its local, regional, and global partners. We strive to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for teaching excellence in K-12 learning environments. Position 1 (Literacy).We are seeking an individual at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the general area of elementary and adolescent literacy. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate content knowledge and teaching experience in general literacy studies, especially developmental literacy and content area literacy appropriate to classroom instructional practice. An interest in helping to develop new curriculum programming and courses suitable to the SNC Teacher Education Program is welcomed. Experience or familiarity with literacy assessment (e.g., Foundations of Reading Test) is also desirable. Position 2 (Teacher Education).We are seeking an individual at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the general area of teacher education. The successful candidate will teach courses in one or more of these areas of expertise: Math Education/Methods, Individualized and Differentiated Instruction (Special Education), Classroom Management, and/or Instructional Design/Instructional Technology. Additional teaching responsibilities will include teaching in our common first-year experience focused on “big questions in education.” The first-year experience will be a two-semester experience that will emphasize collaborative interaction, community-engaged teaching, and academic service-learning.
