Job Description:

The Department of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (http://polsci.umass.edu/) invites applications for a position at the Associate or Full Professor rank. We seek an accomplished scholar whose research addresses fundamental questions about the health and quality of the American democratic system, including those who study the United States from a comparative context. The successful candidate should be an expert in survey research and methodology, and exhibit a track record of publishing innovative empirical research on issues related to political behavior, public opinion, and/or institutions. This faculty member will also serve as a core contributor and member of the leadership team of the UMass Poll, a high-profile survey organization that seeks to assess the political behavior, public opinion, and civic health in Massachusetts, the United States, and abroad. Preference will be given to individuals with an outstanding record of publishing research in top peer reviewed journals, a record of attracting external funding in support of high impact research, and experience in training graduate students in survey research methods.

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in Political Science or in a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.

Additional Information:

The appointment is expected to begin September 1, 2020. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications.
