Position: Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology

Starting Date: August, 2020

Minimum Qualifications:
1) An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Educational Technology, or Instructional Technology, or Instructional Design and Technology or a closely related field of study from an accredited institution is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/20/2020).
2) Documented training and experience in one or more of the following areas: Instructional Technology; E-Learning and Online Learning; PreK-20 Technology Leadership; Gaming and Simulation; Human Performance Technology; Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM); Computational Thinking/Computer Science; and Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Documented PreK-20 teaching experience in multiple areas including hybrid, blended, online and distance learning (synchronous and asynchronous environments), and instructional design and development.
2) Documented experience in use of one or more innovative and emerging technologies, learning experience design, multiple authoring software technologies, assistive technology, and learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning.
3) Documented experience with professional standards in the field of educational technology (ISTE, Quality Matters), professional development issues of teachers, media specialists, and instructional technology stakeholders.
4) Evidence of successful experience teaching instructional technology and educational technology leadership courses at the undergraduate, post baccalaureate and/or graduate level.
5) Evidence of scholarly activity related to Instructional Technology

Duties:
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

Duties and responsibilities may initially include pursuing innovative research, along with advising and recruiting for both MA options and certificates offered in the instructional technology program. In addition, the candidate will have teaching assignments in undergraduate, post baccalaureate teaching credential and/or graduate-level courses in both instructional technology MA options, certificate programs, and/or undergraduate general education courses. These courses may be delivered in multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online. The successful candidate may be responsible for designing, developing and keeping instruction current with innovative technologies, theories and pedagogy. This position will require collaboration with faculty across the college since courses related to instructional technology span programs and certificates throughout the college.  Other responsibilities may include assessing comprehensive exams, portfolios, including collaborating on updates to grading rubrics and comprehensive exams and working with other faculty across the college to enhance the integration of technology into teaching pK-20.

Salary: Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
