Responsible for instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or subject/subjects of the GED (writing skills, social studies, science, language arts, and mathematics) and/or non-credit Career Pathways classes (computer applications, hospitality, and medical), and/or non-credit preparation for the TSI (Math and INRW).Information for This Posting Only

PLEASE NOTE: For FY20, this hourly position pays between $18.75 and $23.75/hour plus .25 prep depending upon education and experience. Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Instructs in ESL, and/or subject/subjects of the GED (writing skills, social studies, science, language arts, or mathematics), and/or non-credit Career Pathways classes (computer applications, DMCAT, Business, hospitality, and Health Sciences) and/or TSI and College Prep (Math and/or INRW.
  • Monitors and communicates student progress using formal and informal methods.
  • Completes annual professional development requirements established by the Texas Workforce Commission.

    Develops classroom environment conducive to optimal student learning with a balance of structure and care. Develops syllabus for each class that includes related content standards. Record and log student class attendance on a timely basis into Adult Education Google systems. Maintains confidentiality of student and all work-related information and materials.Other

  • One year teaching experience in adult education or in a related non-traditional setting.

    Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for local Austin area travel. Must be available to teach evenings and weekends.Other Preferred Qualifications

    Training in specialized curriculum such as Wilson Reading System, Neuhaus, and/or Making Math Real. ACC systems such as Ellucian Colleague.Physical Requirements

    Work is performed in a standard classroom environment on an ACC campus or community organization site. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting and moving of objects up to 10 pounds.Safety
