Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, Faculty Development manages System-Wide Faculty and Adjunct Faculty Development programs and is responsible for leading recruitment, selection, logistics, curriculum development, and budget and resource management for several faculty and adjunct faculty development programs and initiatives. Manage the development, preparation and facilitation of training needs for faculty and adjunct faculty as needed, serve as a member of system-wide committees and train/develop support staff in the department. The Manager also works across functional units to develop competency models to be used throughout the system for selection, assessment, and training and development in support of development efforts for instructional leaders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage System-Wide Faculty and Adjunct Faculty Development programs
  2. Responsible for leading recruitment, selection, logistics, curriculum development, budget and resource management for faculty development programs and initiatives
  3. Manage program resources to provide specific programs or service offerings to internal or external stakeholders in the areas of faculty and adjunct development
  4. Develop and present oral and/or written communications related to faculty and adjunct faculty development programs and direct content for training on related issues and topics
  5. Facilitate faculty and adjunct faculty development learning experiences utilizing a variety of modalities and instructional methods
  6. Review and analyze faculty and adjunct faculty development programs in relation to current trends in higher education and instructional leader development
  7. Collaborate with Director/Executive Director to plan and implement processes and tools
  8. Engage stakeholders across the system to improve efficiency and communication such as the System-Wide Faculty Development Advisory Council, and faculty and instructional leaders
  9. Represent department on committees, at meetings, conferences and in professional organizations
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with overlapping time-frames and deadlines
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships in the course of performing assigned duties
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to deliver training to diverse groups of employees

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing and delivering training and development content in higher education or non-profit organizations
  • Project or program management experience
Salary

Hiring Salary is $52,430
