DescriptionJob Purpose: Install, maintain and repair of various electronic components and equipment in providing technical support to a unit's electronic hardware and related systems.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance on various electronic components in accordance with preventive maintenance schedule and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electronic equipment to detect sources of malfunctions; determine required corrective action and perform required repair/replacement work.
  • Perform installation of new or repaired equipment.
  • Initiate and maintain documentation associated with duties.
  • Perform calibration and test procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, parts and supplies.
  • May provide work direction to lower level technicians.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 
Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
  • Work Experience: Three to four years job related experience.
  • Certifications: N/A
  • Skills: This job requires working knowledge and skills in the operation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment. Additionally the use of various hand and power tools, reading schematics and drawings, use of specialized computer applications is required.
 



QualificationsPreferred Qualifications:    

  • Preferred Education: Associate's degree in Electronics and/or military electronics training or experience in a related field.   
  • Preferred Experience:   
  •  Experience using basic microwave laboratory test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot at component level.
  • Inventory management
  • One to two years in surface mount soldering
  • One to two years in system rack and chassis wiring
  • Reading schematics
  • Experience with a variety of hand and power tools.   
  • Preferred Certifications: IPC/WHMA-A-620C and IPC J-STD-001 

  • Preferred Skills: 
  • Manage and tracking inventory
  • Basic soldering skills for PCB rework
  • Basic PCB design and layout using Altium.
  • Basic SolidWorks design 
  • Good oral and written communication skills 
  • Good organizational skills 
  • Familiarity with basic machine tool operation
  • Additional Information:  Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit staff and management, supervisor and co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel; lower level technicians. This position will supervise: N/A
