Position Description:
The Program Manager will oversee the Undocumented Migration Project (UMP) which is a long-term study of clandestine border crossing that uses a combination of ethnographic, archaeological, visual, and forensic approaches to better understand this social phenomenon in a variety of geographic contexts including the Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona, Northern Mexican border towns, and the southern Mexico/Guatemala border.This position will serve as Program Manager for UMP housed within the UCLA Departments of Anthropology and Chicana/o Studies providing primary programmatic oversight. Additionally, this individual will fulfill the management and operational duties of the affiliated UMP laboratory within the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology. Reporting directly to the Principal Investigator of UMP, this position is responsible for all operations and management of UMP, as well as implementing all laboratory and program initiatives, activities, and long-term strategic development.Major duties will include the planning, management, and execution of large-scale exhibits, organizing highly visible events, facilitating public outreach and community engagement endeavors, communications management, stakeholder engagement, budget management, and exploring fundraising opportunities for the program at large. The position will also be responsible for investigating grant funding pathways along with managing and writing respective proposals. The individual in this position will work closely with the UMP Director to ensure program goals and objectives are being met. Supervisory responsibilities will include overseeing student assistants and Museum Scientists.
