Primary Role: Completes payroll calculations and processing in support of paycheck preparation and assists Accounts Payable in processing invoices for payment. Typical Duties and Responsibilities Prepares all college payrolls, payroll deposits, and payments. Reviews timecards for accuracy in regards to Juniata policies. Creates corresponding journal entries for payroll-related items. Maintains payroll and tax reconciliation and other reports after each payroll. . Coordinate new hire onboarding with Human Resources staff. Receive and process tax and direct deposit paperwork submitted by employees. Maintain payroll schedules and set up tasks within ADP software. Respond to employees’ questions regarding ADP software and requests for payroll information. Assist Accounts Payable in vendor onboarding, financial coding and creating vouchers for invoice payment. Creates journal entries for weekly and monthly auto-payments. Maintains and files/scans all journal entries, Accounts Payable & Payroll documentation. Performs related duties as assigned.Position Qualifications
Position Qualifications Knowledge and capabilities normally acquired through a high school diploma plus additional experience and college level coursework in the accounting field. Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree within Accounting or Business (with coursework in Accounting) preferred. Three years bookkeeping/accounting experience sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and capabilities in completing local, state, and federal payroll tax calculations, fringe benefit computations, and software application used in payroll and accounting transactions. Experience with ADP (or other automated payroll processing system) and desktop software applications strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong customer service and communication skills are necessary.Supervision Required/Given
Reports to the Payroll Specialist and Staff Accountant.
Works independently within established policies and procedures. Must work collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups.Preferred Qualifications
