The Residential Life Coordinator – Events Specialist position is responsible for the welfare and development of students living in College housing. The primary goal of this live-in position is to develop a residential community that is conducive to personal growth, academic excellence, and the inclusion of others. The RLC strives to foster this type of environment through individual and group advising; staff supervision and training; appropriate role modeling; performance of administrative functions; and participation as a fully functioning member of the Residential Life staff team. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Students for Campus Life.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the Residential Life Coordinator Include:
Maintain personal contact with residents through daily social interaction, maintaining office hours and attendance at hall meetings and events.
Serve as a role model, resource person, and support agent for students and staff.
Facilitate the development of hall programs and living-learning communities based on the learning outcomes of the Residential Compass (residential curriculum model).
Maintain a secure and satisfying physical environment.
Oversee a programming budget for their assigned residential area.
Communicate, clarify and enforce college, departmental and hall policies.
Conduct bi-weekly staff meetings and provide ongoing staff development sessions that serve critical training needs and promote opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Select, train, and evaluate Resident Assistants (RAs) and Community Advisors (CAs) in their respective residential areas.
Maintain regular communications Dean of Students Office, QUEST, Public Safety, Health Services, Counseling Services, and Facilities Services.
Staff the central office as assigned and serve on a rotation basis as the initial point of contact for visitors to the office.
Serve on campus committees, like QUEST, student conduct, academic hearing board, etc. In the summer months, there is an expectation to assist with new student orientation.
Assist the Associate Director with tasks related to housing operations, like safety checks, work orders, key distribution and return, check-in/check-out, and room changes.
Assist in the implementation of departmental initiatives associated with the college’s strategic plan.
Adjudicate non-academic conduct cases as assigned by the Dean of Students office.
Serve on the after-hours on-call consultation team.
Other pertinent duties as assigned by Residence Life and Dean of Students offices.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the Events Specialist Include:
Maintain office hours in the Campus and Residential Life Office as scheduled
Serve as the advisor for the Juniata Activities Board and facilitate a programming calendar of weekly events
Serve as a coordinator of and liaison for the Eagles After Dark, a late-night, alcohol-alternative programming series providing programs every Friday and Saturday evening of the academic year
Serve as the coordinator of campus-wide social traditions including Storming of the Arch, Mountain Day, Tenting and Madrigal, Mr. Juniata, and Springfest.
Serve as the main resource for campus registered student organizations for planning and executing events.

•Bachelor’s degree and professional student affairs experience required; master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or similar program preferred
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive team
•Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or similar program preferred
