This is a 10-month position (mid-August to mid-June) with primary oversight of design and construction of scenery for theatre productions. Position also serves as supervisor for multiple student employees who assist in theatre production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities in the scenery shop. This includes but is not limited to scheduling and overseeing student workers, acquisition of scenic material, overseeing scenic construction, maintenance and repair of tools and equipment, maintenance and clean-up of locations utilized by the department within the performing arts center, scheduling and execution of load-ins and strikes.
  • Manage department inventory.
  • Assist the chair in administrative operations as needed.
  • Assist department faculty in departmental operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of theatre industry and current industry standards.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule with flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years' experience working in theatre production (five years' preferred).
