The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Communications Specialist.

The Notre Dame Research Communications (NDRC) team provides strategic support and guidance, as well as execution, for ND's research communication needs. NDRC's overarching goal is to enhance the University's research reputation by showcasing the many research, scholarship, and creative endeavor outputs from ND's researchers, including faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate and undergraduate students, to a number of target audiences, such as peer universities, prospective students, other academic influencers, and more.
As a skilled writer and designer, the Communications Specialist will work to ensure that NDR's communications channels have dynamic, up-to-date, and consistently developing content that is well-presented and -designed, technically accurate, meets target higher education audience needs, and serves the strategies and tactics of NDR's communications vision and mission. Therefore, the Specialist will develop a comprehensive print strategy for NDR, including identifying if and when print materials need to be developed and then executing same. The print role entails creating content, including all writing, and producing designs for print materials, including postcards, fliers, brochures, and more. The Specialist will turn these items and more into digital signs for use throughout campus. The Specialist will be responsible for all strategic email marketing outreach from NDR, including announcements, invitations, and newsletters, including the well-regarded quarterly public newsletter. This includes drafting and curating content, editing, securing approvals, and managing all database mailing lists. The Specialist will enhance and drive a promotional item strategy for NDR. This entails identifying, sourcing, ordering, and managing distribution of all promotional items, such as t-shirts, mugs, etc., for use at conferences, events, and more. Finally, the Specialist will review, evaluate, and report on data in order to help inform decision-making on future strategies and tactics.
This collaborative, solutions-oriented problem solver will work as part of the NDRC team to support all existing NDR communications services (website, social media, design, video, photo, advertising, and more as needed), and help to provide central communications and marketing service to all units within Notre Dame Research.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required 3 years of professional experience Candidate must be a creative and collaborative problem-solver with a proven ability to manage a continuous, professional presence in all areas of communications. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, required. Experience creating and executing successful print and email newsletter campaigns, especially for a higher education or other academic audience, required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, including research, writing, fact-checking, and editing. Well-organized, detail-oriented, ability to multitask and handle shifting priorities. Proficiency in web, email, and business software (word processing, spreadsheets, power points, calendars). Candidates will need the ability to function as a team member to fulfill team objectives while working collaboratively with the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree Preferred
Past experience working in higher education or academic setting preferred. Past experience in STEM disciplines desired.
Experience using Emma email newsletters and Industry Weapon digital signage desired. Proficiency in Apple platforms preferred. Experience using social media for business purposes desired. Experience with Google Analytics and other data tools desired.
