Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Composition
The English Department of the University of North Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in 2020. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Composition/Rhetoric or English with the dissertation in Composition. We are interested in a candidate who can add to our established undergraduate concentration in Professional Writing and assist in our MA in Writing. Preferred areas of specialization include multimodal writing and diverse approaches to the theory and practice of teaching Composition. We welcome candidates with secondary expertise/interest in one or more of the following areas: technical writing, document design, and/or publishing. Teaching experience and evidence of publication or scholarly potential are required as well as a PhD in hand by the time of appointment. Duties will include a 3/3 full time load of teaching courses such as the Instruction of Composition, with primary responsibility for the mentoring and training of graduate teaching assistants, in addition to advising, scholarship, and service, and other duties as designated by the Department Chair. PhD in Composition/Rhetoric or English with the dissertation in Composition, in hand by the time of appointment, is required. Teaching experience and evidence of publication or scholarly potential, required.
