The Department of Political Science at the University of Washington invites applications for a full time (100%) tenure-track Assistant Professor position in political theory, beginning September 2020. Tenure track faculty engage in teaching, research and service and have an annual service period of nine months (Sept 16-June 15). This position will teach courses in contemporary political theory and history of political thought and engage in an innovative research agenda.


Qualifications:

Candidates should have completed all requirements for a PhD in Political Science or a related field (or foreign equivalent) by the appointment date, though qualified applicants at the ABD level will also be considered.


Application Instructions:

Applications should include a cover letter, current CV, writing sample, research statement, teaching statement, diversity statement, and three letters of recommendation. The research statement should describe the applicant’s substantive research interests and accomplishments. The teaching statement should describe the applicant’s teaching philosophy, list undergraduate and graduate level teaching interests, and provide evidence of teaching effectiveness. As a public institution, the University of Washington seeks candidates committed to working with diverse student and community populations. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to describe how their scholarship and teaching support diverse communities.
