Full Time Lecturer in Political Science

The Department of Political Science invites applications for a three-year, renewable position as a Full Time Lecturer in Political Science starting in September 2020. University of Washington lecturers engage in teaching and service and participate in the intellectual life of the department. This position will be expected to teach a broad range of introductory and upper-level classes. Lecturers have an annual service period of nine months (Sept 16-June 15) and teach six courses per year (2 per 10 week quarter).
Candidates should have completed all requirements for a PhD in Political Science (or foreign equivalent) by the appointment date, though qualified applicants at the ABD level will also be considered.
Applications should include a cover letter, current CV, writing sample, teaching statement, diversity statement, and three letters of recommendation. The teaching statement should describe the applicant’s undergraduate and graduate level teaching interests, teaching philosophy, reasons for seeking the position, and provide evidence of teaching effectiveness. As a public institution, the University of Washington seeks candidates committed to working with diverse student and community populations. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to describe how their teaching supports diverse communities.
Priority will be given to applications received before September 15, 2019.
