The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking several candidates for full-time academic psychiatry positions which will be based at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH). Depending upon qualifications, the positions will either be for an Assistant Professor without tenure due to funding (WOT), Associate Professor WOT, or Professor WOT (clinician teacher and faculty scientist pathways). Each successful candidate will serve as an attending at SCH and related clinics and will teach and supervise trainees. These positions are full-time 12-month service period appointments. We anticipate the first of these position to have a start date around May 1, 2019.

The core values and priorities of the UW Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Child Psychiatry include providing clinical care to patients with medical illness who receive care in other departments at SCH, providing evidence-based treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, providing assessment and brief treatment for ADHD and related disorders, and providing excellent training for the next generation of mental health providers throughout the region. Each successful candidate will serve as an attending at SCH and related clinics and will teach and supervise trainees. Seattle Children’s provides a wide continuum of programming for children in the Pacific Northwest that cover that address community based prevention. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is a focus program at SCH and receives extraordinary support for its important role in the Northwest. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

The individuals in these positions will be expected to develop a program of research which can be focused on developmental psychopathology, prevention/intervention science, integrated care, or implementation/dissemination science. The individuals in these positions will also be expected to pursue academic scholarship through participation in research, development of curricula, and/or authoring manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. Psychiatry is a “focus program” at SCH, such that it is both a hospital and university priority.

Qualifications:

An M.D. or foreign equivalent is required.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
