The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for one full-time faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure, commensurate with experience, to join faculty members in the Breast Imaging section with an anticipated start date of May 1, 2019. School of Medicine faculty members have an annual service period of 12 months (July 1-June 30). In addition to clinical activities, responsibilities will include instruction of medical students, diagnostic radiology residents, and breast imaging fellows. Northwest Hospital will be the primary work location, with additional clinical time at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

Responsibilities of this position include coverage of all aspects of the clinical breast imaging service and partnership with the Section Chief of Breast Imaging to establish consistent clinical operations and processes across all UW Radiology, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and Northwest Hospital breast imaging sites, as well as outreach and communication with referring clinicians. The successful candidate will also participate in additional section activities, including instruction of medical students, residents and fellows, and pursuit of academic interests. The successful candidate will engage in clinical research.

The breast imaging section provides clinical coverage and teaching at three medical centers (UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and Northwest Hospital). Under the direction of Dr. Janie Lee, the section is closely integrated with clinical and research programs throughout the UW Medical Center, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, to provide the highest level of comprehensive breast imaging care. All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • M.D., or foreign equivalent, in medicine and eligibility for full medical licensure in Washington State
  • Be board certified or board-eligible in diagnostic radiology
  • Completion of a Breast Imaging Fellowship in an accredited program
  • Demonstrated commitment to an academic career based on record of scientific presentation or publications
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
