The University of Washington Bothell School of Educational Studies (SES) invites applications for Lecturer Part-Time faculty positions. The length of the appointment is 9 months and may be annual or multiple year (1-5 years). The appointment is part-time (minimum .50 FTE) and a non-tenure track appointment. The appointment may be renewed, depending upon annual instructional needs, School lecturer reappointment guidelines, and school and university approval. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The appointment is contingent upon adequate enrollment.

Instructional needs are focused in the following areas:

• Multicultural Education and Secondary/Mid-Level Social Studies
• Undergraduate Core Courses
• Special Education Instruction, Student Teacher Field Instruction, and SPED teacher certification endorsement
• English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Core Instruction, Student Teacher Field Instruction, and ESOL teacher certification endorsement

Part-time faculty may teach in the undergraduate and graduate degree curricula and across any of our School programs: Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies (with or without the Elementary Teacher Certification option), K-8 Teacher Certificate program (post-baccalaureate), Master of Education (M.Ed.), and Secondary and Middle Level Teacher Certification M.Ed.

In addition to a strong focus in teacher preparation, other areas of specialization covered in our programs include: Early Literacy, Elementary Mathematics, English to Speakers of Other Languages, Multicultural Education, and Special Education. Our Educational Studies curriculum spans several disciplines, both in the study of education and teacher education. Disciplines are varied and include, but are not limited to: multicultural education, education and equity, special education, English language acquisition, history and philosophy of education, curriculum theory, design and assessment, educational research and teaching methodology and pedagogy.

• Ph.D., M.A., K-12 teaching experience (for teacher preparation programs) or equivalent professional experience are required at time of appointment
• Experience working with interdisciplinary and portfolio-based curricula
• A demonstrated commitment to innovative and effective pedagogy, and should be prepared to teach lower and/or upper-division core courses that introduce students to interdisciplinary inquiry in a portfolio-based curriculum
• A record of teaching excellence, evidence of engagement with current scholarship, demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student and community populations
• This position may require successful completion of a criminal background check.

• Your experience in teaching in either a K-12 or university/college environment with either undergraduate or graduate students
• Statement about demonstrated commitment to diversity in research, teaching, mentoring, and/or service.
