CONCORDIA COLLEGE, MOORHEAD, MN invites applications for DIRECTOR OF CHORAL ACTIVITIES, full-time, tenure-track, open rank professor. Estimated start date, August 2020.
The successful applicant will
•be an exceptional conductor-educator who will demonstrate the capacity to provide leadership, vision and imagination for Concordia’s choral area, especially in the context of the developing nature of choral and music education in both K-12 and higher education
•maintain a reputation of excellence in both ensemble and classroom settings within a liberal arts environment
•conduct and artistically lead The Concordia Choir, including programming, rehearsing, performing, and recording
•collaborate on yearly projects with the Concordia choral and instrumental ensembles, including the artistic direction of the Concordia Christmas Concert
•coordinate with staff in planning for performances, including tours of The Concordia Choir
The position requires a candidate that is a strong and creative recruiter for both the music department and the college. The Director for Choral Activities will be expected to work closely with the Concordia Enrollment Office and the applied music faculty on recruitment endeavors, and nurture a strong and vibrant relationship with school choral programs throughout the region. Additionally, the Director of Choral Activities will actively engage in the recruitment of individual singers and musicians participating in the annual music scholarship program for prospective students.
Additional teaching responsibilities will be assigned based on the candidate’s expertise, interests, and/or departmental need. A willingness to serve in a collegial manner within the department and across the college is expected.

The Music Department at Concordia College is NASM accredited and is the largest single department on campus, with 40 faculty and more than 1/3 of the entire student body participating in the campus vocal and instrumental ensembles. The Choral Program at Concordia College has enjoyed a rich tradition of excellence since its founding in 1899. It is presently comprised of 400 student musicians who sing in one of four concert choirs. The Concordia Choir has garnered an international reputation for excellence through performances and recordings.
