The University of Puget Sounds seeks an experienced residence manager to oversee the needs of the residence for the university president.

The residence manager manages use of the president’s residence for university activities and events, and oversees needs on a daily basis as a private residence for the university president, family and guests. Assists the president with varied daily tasks from errands to coordinating tasks through the president’s office. Performs other duties on behalf of the Office of the President as assigned.

Appointment: Regular, part-time (0.5 FTE) position

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with the president and family in a manner that inspires confidence and comfort, with extreme discretion and sensitivity to working in private living spaces.
  • Maintains excellent relationship with all campus partners.
  • Demonstrates creativity and thrift.
  • In partnership with Security Services and Facilities Services, ensures safety and security of the president’s residence.
  • Manages use of president’s residence for university activities, social events, and president’s use. Advises, assists and coordinates with other offices and individuals in planning residence events.
  • Recommends policies, procedures, plans and programs for use of president’s residence.
  • In partnership with Dining and Conference Services prepares menus and other arrangements for events.
  • Recommends and oversees décor including linens and flowers for president-hosted events, whether at the residence or elsewhere on campus.
  • Assists the president as needed in hosting special events or guests at the residence.
  • Assists Office of Alumni and Parent Relations (APR) with Homecoming Welcome Reception
  • Flexible schedule requires occasional evening/weekend hours.
  • Duties include:
  • Oversees professional housecleaners and apprise of changes in schedule and service.
  • Arranges for artwork and personal items to be installed, delivered, moved, etc.
  • Coordinates seasonal lighting, plantings, and décor; decorates front porch and residence for various holidays and events.
  • Provides access to items stored at residence used by other campus constituents.
  • Acquires and maintains inventory of household goods, such as paper products, dish and dishwasher soap, garbage bags, etc.
  • May feed/care for pets occasionally.
  • Maintains president’s vehicle.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees contracted housecleaners, on occasion provides direction to Office of the President Student Associate, and provides direction to staff colleagues from partner departments at all president-hosted events.

Budget Responsibilities

    Manage residence budget including disbursements for services.
Qualifications:

  • Must be flexible, able to work independently, and to work occasional nights and weekends
  • 5 years of related experience in residence/estate management, event planning and execution, or as a personal assistant or executive housekeeper with banquet experience
  • Ability to be attentive and anticipate employer’s needs
  • Organized, detail oriented, and a team player
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work, communicate and provide leadership respectfully within a diverse campus community.
  • Able to be on feet for long periods, lift 30 pounds, and navigate a multi-story residence that does not have an elevator
  • Practical house maintenance experience helpful
