Position will recognize and evaluate incoming diagnostic and regulatory specimens for suitability for requested testing. Process specimens ensuring that the specimens correlate to submitted paperwork and distribute processed specimens to appropriate laboratory sections. Data entry into multiple computer systems using knowledge of medical terminology, multiple testing methods, and numerous test codes. Prepare, package, and ship samples to referral laboratories for Rabies, Toxicology, and other out of lab testing. Enter results from referral laboratories into the Laboratory Information Management System (VetView).Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Data entry and basic know-how to work with MS office and Laboratory Information Management System.Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of standing, opening packages and sorting specimens.
Prolonged periods of sitting for data entry. Vaccinated for Rabies.

Recognize and evaluate incoming diagnostic specimens for suitability of testing requested. Process specimens: each package is opened and contents matched with submitted paperwork. Specimens and matched paperwork is assigned a unique accession number, and information regarding the specimen and tests requested are entered in the laboratory computer system. Distribute specimens and copies of paperwork to the appropriate laboratory section for testing. Process, package and ship specimens for Rabies, Toxicology, and other out of lab testing to referral laboratories.Percentage of time80 Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities
Routine clerical duties: assisting receptionist in answering phone calls; help process outgoing results – including the separation and distribution of federal report forms; sending results to clients; and assisting clients coming into the laboratory.
