Assistant Professor of Biology (Microbiology)

St. Norbert College invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Biology beginning in August 2020. We seek a broadly trained microbiologist with experience in cellular or molecular techniques. Teaching responsibilities will include cell-level introductory biology courses, microbiology, virology, immunology, or other courses reflecting the strengths and training of the applicant. Candidates may also have the opportunity to develop courses for the College's core curriculum program. Productive research that provides meaningful experiences for St. Norbert College undergraduates is expected, as well as advising students and being an active member of the College community. The candidate will join the biology department in a newly expanded and renovated science building that also houses the Green Bay campus of The Medical College of Wisconsin. This is one of two faculty positions to meet the demands of our growing Biology program. A demonstration of teaching effectiveness will be part of the interview process. A doctoral degree in biology or a related field is required at the time of appointment (Ph.D., M.D.); postdoctoral experience is preferred.

St. Norbert College is situated on an attractive, riverside campus in De Pere, WI, a community contiguous with the city of Green Bay. The Green Bay metropolitan area has a population of 250,000, offers abundant opportunities for recreational and cultural endeavors, is served by its own international airport, and is located 200 miles north of Chicago. We welcome individuals with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and skills to join our college community in our pursuit of inclusion and excellence. Applications from members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.

Interested candidates should submit a detailed letter of application (to the attention of Dr. David Bailey, Associate Dean of Natural Sciences), along with statements of teaching philosophy, a description of research interests appropriate for undergraduate participation, undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial), a curriculum vita, and a list of contact information for three references by clicking on the “Apply Now” link found on this page. Review of applications will begin October 18 and continue until the position is filled.
