This position is responsible for tutoring and assisting students in the Writing Lab. Work consists of 19.5 hours a week, approximately 16 weeks in the Fall and Spring Semesters and approximately 10 weeks in the Summer. This position pays $20/hour.

Essential Duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES AND/OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
•Knowledge of standard written English and MLA style.
•Ability to explain rules of grammar and usage.
•Effective in interpersonal relations.
•Effective in oral and written communication.

MAJOR DUTIES
•Assist students with compositions, grammar, and usage.

•Perform a variety of related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

•Master’s degree in English, English education, or related field with 18 graduate hours in English.
•One year of high school or college teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

•One or more years of tutoring and teaching experience; experience working with English as second language learners desired.

Physical Demands

•The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
•The work is typically performed in a classroom.
