Job Description:  The College of Design’s SimTigrate Design Lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work on research programs linking the design of the built environment to experience and health and organizational outcomes. The post doc will work primarily with the Mild Cognitive Impairment Empowerment Program’s (MCIEP) built environment core.  The MCIEP is a large collaborative research program between Emory and Georgia Tech to use innovative therapies, built environments and technologies to empower people with MCI and their care partners. In addition, the fellow might work on other research programs such as funding and needs dictate. The fellow will help design, conduct, analyze and write up the research, including authoring or co-authoring presentations and journal articles and may collaborate in writing funding proposals. The candidate may participate in or lead classes in the College of Design as appropriate, including planning, creating class materials, and lecturing. The fellow may both work as a member of, and lead, diverse multidisciplinary teams and should be able to work well as a part of a team.

Department Description: The SimTigrate Design Lab is an internationally-known lab active in research and publication that also works with a wide range of academic and healthcare partners at Georgia Tech in the colleges of Design, Science and Engineering, Emory, the Military Health System, Mayo Clinic and many others: http://simtigrate.gatech.edu.

Position Availability: The position is available as soon as a suitable candidate can be found and will be a one-year position with possible extension for up to three years based on funding and performance reviews.

Basic Qualifications: We are looking for a postdoc fellow who has good analytical, verbal and writing skills in English. They should also be able to interact effectively with collaborators and sponsors. In addition, the fellow should be comfortable with analyzing data in SPSS or another analogous platform and have a working knowledge of statistics. The senior faculty in the Lab will help the fellow develop his or her skills and ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D in a related field within the past 5 years, statistical analysis skills, experience leading teams, comfort in Microsoft Office Suite, experimental design experience, experience in built environment, psychology, architecture, and/or industrial design.

Salary: $50,000 with full benefits

How to Apply: A cover letter that includes a brief description of your research interests and how they match the work of the Lab, a CV, three examples of recent, relevant work, and a list of three references (names, titles, organization, and email addresses) should be sent to Kimberly Bass Seaton (kimberly.seaton@design.gatech.edu).  Application packages that are received by September 20, 2019 have the best chance of being reviewed for the available fellowship; but applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled.
