DescriptionThe Senior Research Associate within the College of Public Health’s (CPH) Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics will provide full-time support to carry out externally-funded grant studies and other research projects/activities of Dr. Brandie D. Taylor, the Principal Investigator (PI). This position will support a culture of high performance in a fast-paced environment by performing multiple advanced administrative functions requiring comprehensive knowledge, skills and experience. The position will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day oversight and supervision of research projects. Specifically, this position will serve as the project coordinator for research examining numerous blood biomarkers for preeclampsia risk, prediction and subtype discrimination. The person will work closely with the PI to provide leadership and day-to-day management of projects including effective communication with the lead investigators, project stakeholders, other researchers, collaborators and research assistants. The person will be expected to: monitor and manage the day-to-day project activities and staff to ensure timely progress and compliance with study protocols and human subjects regulations. The person will participate in strategic planning for long-term research goals. The person will coordinate and plan all meetings of the grants’ Steering Committee/Advisory Group and Analytic Teams. The person will create databases and analytical files and conduct analyses of data obtained from a nested case-control study. The person will also participate in manuscript preparation and be responsible for progress reports for the IRB and funders (e.g., NIAID). Additionally, the Senior Research Associate will serve as the projects’ principle administrative liaison for collaborating agencies and/or institutions. They will also oversee and coordinate the provision of administrative and research staff services, including the supervision of research assistants, and develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures as appropriate. Assistance in grant development also falls under the purview of the Senior Research Associate, as well as other duties as assigned. The incumbent will report and be accountable to the PI. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: Master’s Degree in Epidemiology or similar field with 2 years of experience in epidemiologic research including: database creation and management, analysis of prospective and cross-sectional data, manuscript preparation is also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities:*Must possess strong critical thinking and complex problem solving skills*Excellent organizational and time management skills*Excellent interpersonal skills and effective and oral and written English communicator*Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced research environment*Experience conducting reviews of the scientific literature and summarizing the findings for inclusion in manuscripts*Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and ethical guidelines related to human subjects research in both community and medical settings.*Experience working with IRB and human subjects documentation.*Must be proficient with MS Office suite and SAS and have a working knowledge of computer programs including MS Access and other similar programs. Experience with MPlus is also desired.*Experience working collaboratively and effectively with an interdisciplinary team*Must be able to work independently*Must be reliable and punctual Preferred:*Master’s Degree in Epidemiology or similar field with 5 years of experience in epidemiologic research.
