Job Description Summary

Reporting directly to the VP Finance & Treasurer with a dotted line to the Core Human Resources, and serving as a key member of the VP Leadership Team, this position provides leadership, direction and support for the human resource function to enable a relevant, forward looking, high-performance organization. The Director HR will lead efforts to ensure that the DOF maintains an inclusive, positive, and collaborative workplace that aligns with our mission to provide world class service to world class faculty and students.

This position is responsible for staff recruitment, employee relations, performance management and compensation, talent and professional development, onboarding and orientation, and consultative support to management on matters concerning strategic decisions and compliance. She/ he will take a leadership role in developing a culture directed toward staff performing at their greatest potential.

The Director HR will manage traditional human resource functions including:
•Acting as the DOF liaison with central Human Resources across a full spectrum of human resource functions; including compensation, staff relations, benefits, learning and education, and recruitment.
•Serving as a Workday Human Resource Partner and a DOF Workday subject matter expert.
•Managing all traditional human resource activities for the Division.

Beyond the traditional paradigm of administrative activities, the Director HR will:
•Use technology and analytics to evaluate and optimally manage the Division in its current state, while planning for its future state
•Evaluate/ enhance culture of recognition/ acknowledgment and engagement
•Shape organizational excellence through innovative policies and practices

Job Description

Strategic Human Resource Administration: Provide strategic oversight and direction for the human resources function to enable the finance function of the future. Manage all Divisional Human Resource functions including policy, staff recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, onboarding and orientation, training and development, and retirement in alignment with the Division of Human Resources policy and practice. Develop, implement, and train staff/faculty on HR guidelines that align with University guidelines and federal compliance standards. Transformational Culture Building: Encourage a high performing culture with measurable performance and talent management initiatives. Serve as a DOF Change Agent for all organizational excellence and efficiency initiatives. Develop a baseline for employee engagement and enhancement initiatives that foster collaboration, trust, and performance. Talent Development: Develop and support managers in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring process to ensure the DOF’s ability to attract and retain top talent. Provide coaching and guidance to hiring managers. Guide hiring officers in using competency models and other hiring tools. Work with senior leadership team to identify top talent for targeted development, succession planning, and enhanced opportunities for professional development. Performance Management and Compensation Planning: Oversee performance management process and compensation planning to optimize results and incentivize top performers.Work with the VP Finance and the senior leadership team to understand business operations to inform/ facilitate/ recommend job design, job classification and salary administration under University guidelines in conjunction with central Human Resources. Co-manage all salary and compensation-related adjustments and annual merit increase process with Director Financial, Planning, & Analysis. Workday Human Resource Partner:Serve as the senior DOF Workday Human Resource Partner and subject matter expert. Establish formal working group with Divisional representatives from larger offices to foster open communication, standardized processes and operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of human resources management experience or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience in a Higher education environment and PHR-CP or SPHR-SCP are desired. Demonstrated experience in assessing, developing and implementing programs in response to staff and organizational development needs. Demonstrated ability to provide management oversight, leadership and strategic direction. Ability to develop trust and collaborative working relationships. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to be persuasive, and motivate people to a desired action. A strong service orientation and ability to function independently yet relate comfortably with the various areas of the Division of Finance.
