St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

We are seeking a part-time Maintenance/Environmental Services/Groundskeeper Assistant (20 hours per week) who will perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, modification and repair activities at our Dardenne Creek Campus. The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and appearance of college campus building interiors, and maintaining, caring for, and enhancing College Grounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintenance 80%

    Electrical replaces light bulbs, light switches, ballast and receptacles.
    Plumbing- rebuilds toilet and urinal flush valves, rebuilds and replaces faucets, replaces wax rings, gaskets, toilet seats, and unclogs drains and toilets.
    Carpentry minor repair of furniture, replaces and or adjusts door knobs, closers and hinges.
    HVAC adjusts thermostats, cleans coils, and replaces filters.
    General hangs signs, pictures and banners, move furniture, performs set-ups/tear downs and minor painting.
    Performs routine and non-routine preventative maintenance.
    Performs courier services.
    Assists with emergency duties such as snow removal, snow shoveling, and salting.
Environmental Services 10%

    Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks restrooms as needed.
    Operates auto scrubber, carpet extractor, vacuum, small hand-held equipment, and related Environmental Services equipment as needed.
    Empties trash containers and recyclables from assigned areas. Assists with emptying of trash and cleaning of stairwells and common areas as needed.
Groundskeeper 10%

    Maintains ornamentals and trees, including fertilizing, planting, watering, pest control, pruning, mulching, and weed control.
    Ensures proper appearance of campus grounds, including picking up trash, emptying parking lot trash containers, emptying trash containers at buildings, and cleaning plaza areas.
    Assists with heavy lifting, loading, unloading, and moving heavy products/deliveries.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and expertise in areas of painting, electrical, and plumbing. Three months experience in maintenance repairs, internal and external building maintenance, experience in plumbing, electrical repair, light maintenance duties preferred. Must be able to use hand tools, hammers, screwdrivers, electrical tools, drills; be able to read voltage meters.
