LIM College – Where Business Meets Fashion is currently seeking candidates for the position of Director of Human Resources.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Working under the direction of the Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations, Treasurer the Director of Human Resources position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position serves as a consultant to leadership, staff, faculty and managers on human resource-related issues. The Director of Human Resources acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with leadership, the Director of Human Resources seeks to develop integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across the college to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The Director of Human Resources maintains an effective level of business literacy about the college's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition. The Director of Human Resources champions LIM's efforts to attract, train, and keep the best employees. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization's employees. This position assesses college-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Organizational Development and Employee Relations
    • Conducts quarterly meetings with respective departments/divisions
    • Consults with managers, providing HR guidance when appropriate
    • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
    • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for communications strategies for organizational changes
    • Provides guidance and input on organizational restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
    • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts
  • Compliance
    • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with legal counsel as needed/required
      • Serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator
      • Manages the annual review of the Employee Handbook
    • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
    • Develops terms for new hires, promotions and transfers
  • Benefits and Compensation
    • Works with the EVP to develop a strategy for benefits and compensation
    • Manages the open enrollment process for eligible staff and faculty
    • Partners with benefits providers and broker to resolve complex benefits matters
  • Recruitment
    • Manages full life cycle recruitment
    • Serves as a partner with hiring managers to develop effective sourcing and recruitment strategies. Develops effective relationships within the organization and the hiring community to have influence and impact on the recruitment process and hiring.
    • Manages orientation and the onboarding experience for new employees
  • Training/Development
    • Creates internal career paths and a leadership development program
    • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment
    • Identifies training needs for departments and individual executive coaching needs
    • Develops training that aligns with the organization's strategic goals, development programs and objectives
    • Develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media
    • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources
    • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results
    • Modifies programs as needed
  • Miscellaneous
    • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies
    • Oversees job analyses and maintenance of updated Job Descriptions
    • Exemplifies the desired Core Values of the organization
    • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff
    • Participates in college-wide programs
    • Attends professional development programs
    • Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree required
    • Broad knowledge of HR laws and regulations, benefits policies and programs, employee relations practices and recruitment techniques
    • Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience
    • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's Degree preferred; preference in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or Industrial Organizational Psychology
    • PHR/SPHR Certification
    • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, Instructional Technology or Learning Theory
    • Title IX Certification
    • Experience in Higher Education setting highly preferred
