The Department of Vascular & Interventional Radiology is the newest Department at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine. It was established in June 2016. The Department is focused on clinical care, quality, research, and education, as well as training of residents and fellows. The Department sees an average of 21,000 patients per year at the following locations: University of Miami Hospital, The Sylvester Cancer Center, Jackson Memorial Hospital, UMiami satellites in Broward county (Plantation and Deerfield Beach) and the Lennar Foundation Medical Center located in Coral Gables. The Department of IR maintains an outpatient clinic in the Professional Arts Center near UMiami hospital and at the Lennar Foundation Medical Center in Coral Gables, FL.

The Staff Physician will perform the full gamut of interventional procedures. Exercise quality assurance as related to the practice of interventional radiology. Provide interventional radiology consultations. Provide emergency patient care as required in the setting of an Interventional radiology practice. Assume administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Chairman related to the practice of interventional radiology.

In addition, the Staff Physician will participate in the teaching as it relates to: Residency/fellowship training programs, medical student education program, continuing medical education programs and serve on system wide UMiami and Jackson Medical Center committees at the discretion of the Chairman.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Three (3) years' experience in Interventional Radiology as it relates to clinical IR, research, education/teaching of residents and fellows, and the ability to practice build for the department. This candidate should also have strong interpersonal/communication skills and understand the business of medicine as it relates to practice building.

Our VIR faculty perform the full gamut of interventional radiology with strong emphasis on vascular disease (PAD), oncology, transplant, hepatobiliary/portal hypertension, genitourinary (PAE), musculoskeletal (pre-op embolizations, spine augmentation/ablations), and pediatric IR services. Our department is also actively involved in all the UMiami tumor boards.

The Department of IR provides training for 7 VIR fellows, IR-DR residents, and diagnostic radiology residents. We have many advanced practice providers and continue to hire both faculty and staff to meet our growing practice. Responsibilities include teaching a spectrum of learners (medical students, residents, fellows and ourselves too), and clinical, translational and/or basic research. We have many ongoing research programs within the Department, including close collaboration with our own Basic Sciences Division, and with colleagues across UMiami. The Department aims to establish cutting edge research and education programs and an excellent Faculty Development Program.

The University supports a MISTE lab for training future doctors and an animal lab which houses an angio suite, CT scanner, MRI machine.

Requires a M.D. from an accredited Medical School (or foreign equivalent), Florida Medical License or equivalent, American Board of Radiology Certification.

Patient safety is a top priority.
